Ethiopian Airlines has taken over the management of Gorgora Resort under its Ethiopian Skylight Hotel brand, the state-owned carrier said on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony at Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in the presence of Amhara Regional State President Arega Kebede and senior regional officials, as well as Ethiopian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lemma Yadecha.
Under the terms of the deal, Ethiopian Airlines will now be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Gorgora Resort.Â
This is the latest resort to come under Ethiopian Airlines' tourism portfolio. The airline recently took over management of Halala Kela Resort, Wonchi Eco Lodge and Chebera Churcura Elephant Dana Lodge, which were built as part of Ethiopia's Dine for Ethiopia Project.
Tourism is a key source of foreign exchange and jobs for Ethiopia. The government has targeted aggressive growth in visitor arrivals and spending in its tourism development plan.
