Pepsi products have made a return to store shelves in Ethiopia after facing a four-month closure due to severe foreign exchange shortages. The situation has now taken a positive turn for local Pepsi producer Moha Soft Drinks.
Residents of Addis Ababa can once again find a wide range of Moha Soft Drinks products, including the popular Mirinda Orange soft drink, available in shops and supermarkets throughout the city.
Moha Soft Drinks Industry Share Company, a subsidiary of MIDROC owned by Al Amoudi, has been the authorized sole producer and distributor of PepsiCo products in Ethiopia for nearly three decades. Since 1996, the company has operated eight plants across the country to meet growing demand.
Last week, Jemal Ahmed, CEO of parent company MIDROC Group, replaced the long-serving CEO of Moha, Getachew Benti, after 30 years in the role, citing allegations of mismanagement and inefficient use of resources at the beverage company.
