Revenues from import taxes portray a higher growth than any other sources of government revenue, according to the first quarter 2021/22 report of the Ministry of Revenues.
In the first three months of this fiscal year, about 38.6 billion Br in domestic taxes have been collected, showing 8.5 percent growth. During the same period, 31 billion Br in import taxes have been collected, exhibiting a 13.4 percent growth.
Overall, almost 70.1 billion Br in government revenues have been collected during the reporting period. It is 10.6 jump from last year the same period, an encouraging result considering the war in North Ethiopia, the forex shortage and the impacts of COVID-19 on business activities.
