The headquarters of Addis Abeba Municipality, the landmark of the capital city, renovated for 2.2 billion Br. It is a project initiated during the tenure of Takele Uma, who was a mayor of the capital for almost two years before being replaced by Adanech Abiebie in 2020.
The project has been officially inaugurated by Mayor Adanech today in the presence of officials. "A project inaugurated as Ethiopia prepares to receive African leaders for the upcoming AU summit, it has a big meaning for us as it is coincided with the unfutile efforts of some to snatch the diplomatic status of the city," the Mayor said.
A Dubai-based construction, ALEC Engineering & Contracting LLC, was contracted to undertake the renovation works, which involves landscaping, renovating offices and building new facilities inside the premises of the Municipality, sprawled on 50,000Sqm of land.
The renovation works also includes the construction of a cocktail bar, a clinic, a children's playground, a library and a parking lot that can accommodate 150 vehicles. The theatre hall that has 850 seats have been also renovated.
