Safaricom Ethiopia's subscriber base has expanded to 2.8 million by the middle of this month, less than six months after its entrance into the populous country where it is vying for a large market share.
The information was disclosed by Christopher Karanja, who serves as the public relations manager for the telecommunications company. Karanja gave an interview to Business Daily on Thursday, concurrently with the launch of the Safaricom Foundation Plan 2023-2026.
Safaricom started doing business in Ethiopia on October 6 of the previous year and had 740,000 customers signed up by the end of the month. The company also made Sh98.3 million in revenue from the market in the first month it was active there.
