Sudanese officials last week quarantined Ethiopian refugees at the Al-Tunaydbah camp in the country's east, following the discovery of three cases of monkeypox, which brought the total number of cases in the nation to 17.
According to data from the national refugee commission, the camp is home to predominantly Ethiopian refugees, who number roughly 25,000.
In order to stop the virus from spreading to other parts of Gedaref state, especially the town of Tunaydbah, which is five kilometers away from the camp, officials stated they have restricted the movement of refugees out of the camp and are not admitting new people into the camp.
