A UN agency floats a tender to procure two million quintals of wheat on behalf of the Ethiopian government. It is expected to cost at least an estimated 3.3 billion Br.
The tender will be opened on October 08, 2021, the tender from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) requires suppliers to deliver the wheat packed in bags.
The winning supplier will deliver four 50,000 tonne consignments 90 days after contract signing or earlier if possible. The wheat will be distributed to people who are in need of urgent assistance.
The war in north Ethiopia alone made more than six million people aid-dependent, adding to another 30 million who require swift food assistance from donors and the government.
